Cargo Mis-declaration Fees/Penalty with immediate effect

Cargo Mis-declaration Fees/Penalty
There have been an increased number of casualties in the maritime industry, which have largely been attributed to mis-declared cargo. In a bid to dissuade such practices, reduce risk, and protect the crew, vessel, and environment; please be advised that effective immediately, UAFL will be implementing a penalty of minimum USD10 000 per container for any mis – declaration of cargo of any form.
For hazardous cargo, please note we will consider this fee applicable for mis – declaration of quantity/weight of the cargo as well.
All liability that may arise from the misdeclaration of cargo will be assumed by you (the merchant) as determined by our conditions of carriage. The payment of the USD 10 000 will not absolve you from any additional liability that arises from mis - declaration of cargo.
